On December 14, 2011 Ysleta Branch presented the program “Wonders of Astronomy”. Ysleta staff member, Martha Bocanegra was the host of this very informative program detailing our El Paso night sky. Astronomy is the study of celestial objects, a must for the serious stargazer. Martha revealed how the planets, stars, constellations, galaxies and other heavenly bodies interact and move about throughout the cosmos. Our patrons certainly left with an increased knowledge of the night sky.

Ysleta Branch Library staff brought the Halloween spirit to the patrons by getting dressed in costumes. Elsa was a Pink Lady from the movie Grease; Gabby was a Ladybug; Jesse was dressed as a Cat; Jennifer was Hermione Granger of the Harry Potter series; and myself, I was a Star Trek science officer. Some of the patrons also had their costumes on. There were many smiles and laughter and the kids loved it.
